Pair of Large Antique British Sterling Silver Wine or Water Goblets London 1795
This listing is for a pair of fine quality British sterling silver wine or water goblets that were made in London in 1795 by Robert Gaze (registered in London in January 1795). They are 6 1/2″ tall, 3 1/2″ in diameter and total weight is 17.15 troy ounces. One is 8.69 ozt while the other is 8.46 ozt. The crest “In Ardua Vitus” means Virtue against Difficulties. It is unknown who the crest belongs to. Great condition for age (over 200 years old). They sit nice and flat on a hard surface (no wobbles). These were hand-wrought so there are some minor tool marks and they are not perfectly round on the top rims (but pretty close). There are some minor blemishes, rippling and tiny dings. One of the goblets has an area of damage/repair on the foot and this one also has about a 1/2 crease on the lower part of the body. The other one has a 1/4 crease/ding on the stem. None of these issues, besides the area of damage/repair on the foot, are noticeable and I could not get good pictures of them. Please see all pictures for details. This item is in the category “Antiques\Silver\Sterling Silver (.925)\Cups & Goblets”. The seller is “keener5878″ and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.

Pair Of Large Brass Taps, Doulton & Co – London (18541993). Hot / Cold matched pair. Ceramic caps, with famous makers name: Doulton & Co LTD – London plus stamped to the front with’Best. Dated around 1900 – Rare original & authentic condition. Large size, for bath, or commercial application. Complete and appear in a working order, but untested. 20cm overall length, above surface fitted height 14cm, Tap spout length 12.5cm approx. Screw threat diameter, just under 1 1/4 – 3cm. Good used condition for age, with some wear, scratches, tarnishing and dints. Operating originally in Vauxhall, London, later moving to Lambeth, in 1882 it opened a factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, in the centre of English pottery. From the start the backbone of the business was a wide range of utilitarian wares, mostly stonewares, including storage jars, tankards and the like, and later extending to pipes for drains, lavatories, brassware and other bathroom ceramics. From 1853 to 1902 its wares were marked Doulton & Co. Initially this was done through artistic stonewares made in Lambeth, but in 1882 the firm bought a Burslem factory, which was mainly intended for making bone china tablewares and decorative items. It was a latecomer in this market compared to firms such as Royal Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Wedgwood, Spode and Mintons, but made a place for itself in the later 19th century. Today Royal Doulton mainly produces tableware and figurines, but also cookware, glassware, and other home accessories such as linens, curtains and lighting. Three of its brands were Royal Doulton, Royal Albert, and (after a post-WWII merger) Mintons. These brands are now owned by WWRD Holdings Limited (Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton), based in Barlaston near Stoke-on-Trent. On 2 July 2015, the acquisition of WWRD by the Finnish company Fiskars Corporation was completed.
