Pair of Large Antique French Slate Stone Clock Garnitures
For sale is pair of antique French clock garnitures. These are made out of slate stone and feature elaborate chalice shapes with etched gold detailing. Each measurres 7 x 9.5 x 7 inches. They appear to be in overall good condition for their age. Upon close inspection, there are some chips and dings along the edges from normal wear and age. Since they’re are made from black slate stone, the chips and dings blend into the dark coloring. Some chips appear to have been filled in the past. LARGE PAIR OF SCONCES EMPIRE STYLE BRONZE – HETTIER & VINCENT. Superb pair of large sconces Empire style. Manufacturing second half of the 20th. Original gilding and patina in perfect condition. Green patina, very good condition; note, a small touch up of varnish (see last photo). The light arms are richly decorated with acanthus leaves, windings, laurels and flowers. The central part is decorated with openwork palm-leaves. They’re stamped: VH, for Hettier & Vincent (see photo). Electricity installed and tested, new wires. Careful packaging ensured (double protection). Large antique pair of shelf brackets. France, early 1900’s, made of walnut wood. Height each (each) : 23 in. Depth (each) : 11.5 in. Weight (the pair) : 8lb. Good overall condition, were on top of a buffet, there was a shelf on top and another one in the middle (grooves in each bracket), a chip on one of the bottom board (those boards can be removed easily). My name is Greg, I’m a French guy who had business in Charlotte NC for 3 years. Unfortunately, I had to move back to France because of a slow activity. I fell in love with the US, particulary Charlotte! So now my only goal is to return to Charlotte, and for that I want to export French furnitures and antiques there! This idea came because of my love for wood and history. It is a great area to find valuable furnitures and smalls because of the proximity of wealthy ski resorts like Megève and Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is also close to Geneva (switzerland), about 45minutes by car. The Geneva area is one of the richest in Europe due to finance and whatchmaking. Italy’s not to far as well, 40 minutes. What a wonderful large pair of wall shelves, recently found in France, arriving in fine condition and with such dignity and appeal. The set are stained a very dark, almost’ebony’ color which reflects on the carved wood, reminding me of the monumental works of light and shadow created by artist, Louise Nevelson. These will work in any decor, from traditional to modern. A large platform of 13 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ will display your pair of clocks, your favorite collections with drama and draw the eye. Shown from all sides, there is much to adore. Measurements are also noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition for age and type, these are Napoleon III era c. 1850-70 when the drama of blackened items became the aesthetic brought forward by France’s last Emperor, Louis-Napoleon’s Empress Eugenie. Note that there is a wood backing, meaning these are not solid wood, so not heavy like rocks. The old hardware is intact and they’re ready to hang. The carving remains beautiful, free of chips or loss, but maybe a leaf tip. The shelf tops are milled with a nice bevel to the edge. One seems to have small nicks along that narrow rim (again, see photos). We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important. Large Pair Antique 19thC French Louis XVI Gilded Giltwood Arm Chairs After Jacob
THIS ITEM IS AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY IN PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND. Today we are pleased to offer for sale a rare and incredible pair of baronial French arm chairs! These chairs date to the 19th century and are very finely crafted and detailed. The chairs are copies of the original 18th century chairs now located in Marie Antoinette’s Cabinet Doré at Versailles; those chairs were part of a suite crafted by master ebeniste George Jacob for the Parisian Tuileries Palace. Our set is stunning and made of solid, carved, heavy, gilt wood. The chairs are generous in size and done in the late Louis XVI style with early Empire influences. The frames are superbly hand-carved and features Ionic column tapered legs with Solomonic design, and adorned with stars and braided border. The apron and back of the chairs features a ribbon and semi three-dimensional floral carved design. The arms features an incredible design of a ribbon-bound cornucopia full of fruits, with braided handle. The chairs are finely upholstered with pale yellow and off-white floral silk and feature thickly-padded arm rests, seat, and seat back. The frames have a lavish gold-leafed/painted finish with wonderful time-earned patina. This baronial pair will add old world French grandeur and style to any fine interior! The chairs present well and are in very good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age and use. The frames are sturdy but have minor wear, patina, and minimal losses. The gilded finish has wear, minor darkening, small losses and minor touch-ups.
